Hello! I'm Lee Parsons and a local resident... I'm a responsible adult and a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI). I have Gold River resident references available upon request. I am a 'mostly' retired pharmacist who loves animals and hates soap operas! I pet-sit to make new fur-friends (without adopting more) for dog toys and "mocha money."
My number one passion has always been animals. Over the years, my pets have included cats, dogs, hamsters and a canary…and a crow with a broken wing that landed inside my fenced yard. With no human children of my own, I fill the void with fur-babies. A pair of yorkies, Daphne and Schenley (a little ‘licker’), were the dog-loves of my life. They lived long and pampered lives. I dreaded having to take our darlins’ to a doggie-asylum so we could travel. Dog runs/cages in most kennels are dreary, bare concrete-floors separated by chain-link fence from the next doggie-inmate. Bedlam is the only way to describe a dog kennel - loud just doesn’t adequately convey the environment – Deafening would be a better term.. Discovering the wonders of a pet-sitter allowed us to enjoy vacations knowing our ‘kids’ were safe in the peace, comfort, and quiet of their own home.
For six years, I volunteered as a “puppy-raiser” for Canine Companions. CCI provides service dogs for physically handicapped children and adults, free-of-charge. CCI provided the puppy and we’d attend weekly obedience classes for at least a year. Hard as it was to return them as adult dogs to CCI, I am very proud to have raised Adrian, Tony, Taji, and Oakes for CCI.
Finding myself pet less, I began adopting “rescues”- pets that, for whatever reason, found themselves desperately in need of a forever-home. I am currently proud mom to six fur-children, three cats and three dogs. I chose two dogs and two cats, and the other two chose me.
